The Oriental United Methodist Church Worship Arts Ministry seeks to glorify God and enhance the celebration of worship by preparing us for God, uplifting our spirits, and strengthening us for daily living. Choirs and instrumental ensembles seek to witness to the greater Oriental community as an extension of church outreach. Active involvement in the music ministry provides participants with the opportunity to serve the church with their talents, develop musical skills, and achieve higher levels of spiritual awareness.

Come Join the Choir
We are glad that you are considering joining the OUMC Sanctuary Choir. Serving the Lord through song is such fun, and at the same time, an awesome responsibility. You will be blessed as you use your gifts to worship and help others experience God. We feel that we are family and, as such, care for one another through prayer and outreach. We welcome you into our fellowship and look forward to serving with you in this Worship Arts Ministry. Below are some questions and answers that may help you decide whether to join the Sanctuary Choir.
Do I have to audition? No.
Is a nursery available during rehearsals? Yes, if requested at least 48 hours in advance. Contact the church office at (252) 249-0213.
What activities can I look forward to? The opportunity to participate in Wednesday rehearsals, Sunday morning worship, Christmas concerts, social events, and much more!
What are rehearsals like? Rehearsals are a very rewarding experience for choir members. We start with a warm-up, and then rehearse music for Sunday morning worship or upcoming concerts. We work hard but we laugh a lot.

Praise Team
The OUMC Praise Team is part of the Worship Arts Ministry at Oriental United Methodist Church in Oriental, NC. We assist in leading the congregation in song as we come together and worship at the 8:30 a.m. service on Sunday mornings. Our intention is to help each person draw closer to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
We believe that the informal style of praise music encourages worshippers to approach God without pretense. Because contemporary worship music is sung communally, it allows for a deeply spiritual connection so that every member of the congregation is engaged in the overall musical praise experience! What a wonderful forum in which to express our personal praise to God!
Join us for rehearsals on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-7:00 p.m. On Sunday we rehearse with the band at 8:00 a.m. sharp prior to the 8:30 a.m. service. To find out more, contact the church office at (252) 249-0213 or send an email to info@orientalumc.org .
The Pamlico Chorale
Oriental United Methodist Church is home to The Pamlico Chorale. They meet every Monday at 7:00 p.m. in the Church Fellowship Hall to rehearse for whatever community event is next on their busy schedule. The purpose of the Chorale is simply the enjoyment of singing and the pleasure of sharing music with others. It now includes about seventy men and women, a congenial mix of native North Carolinians and transplants from other states and countries who have been welcomed to the pleasant life in eastern North Carolina. Many, but not all, have sung in a choir or chorus at another time and place; few are trained musicians. Director of the Chorale is Reba Tiller of Whortonsville. The Chorale is a non-profit volunteer organization funded by The Pamlico County Arts Council and private donations. Newcomers to Pamlico County are always welcome to come to a rehearsal or two and then, if they enjoy it, to join the group.
If you are a visitor or a newcomer in Pamlico County, stop by rehearsal on Monday evening and introduce yourself. You will be most welcome.
