ZOE Ministry

It is an all too common sight across Africa, children caring for children because their parents have died of HIV/AIDS, disease, war, famine, and other causes.  They face lives of loneliness, hardship and hunger.  Many of the children end up begging for food, living on the streets, or worse.

ZOE Ministry works to break this cycle of poverty and give these children hope.  ZOE goes into communities where the orphans are already living and brings them together in supportive groups. We then connect them with local churches and offer them resources and training which empower them to pull themselves out of poverty in two-three years.  For more information follow this link to the ZOE Ministry website.

Escuela Nuevo Horizonte (New Horizon School), Lambare, Paraguay

The vision of Escuela Nuevo Horizonte, a Christian school in Lambaré just outside of Asuncion, is to raise up a generation of youth who can serve as future leaders of this country. They will practice integrity and honesty guided by Biblical principles and the Holy Spirit. The school, opened in 2001, has earned an excellent reputation for its strong academics and Christian education.

United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR)

UMCOR is the humanitarian relief and development agency of the United Methodist Church, a worldwide denomination. Compelled by Christ, UMCOR responds to natural or human made disasters—those interruptions of such magnitude that they overwhelm a community’s ability to recover on its own.  For more information follow this link to the UMCOR website.

Project Agape, Armenia

Project AGAPE continues its ministry in Armenia focusing on the area around the town of Berdzor.  With unemployment still hovering around sixty% and very little government or international aid, the people in this area of the world need the basics to survive.  The NCC continues to solicit support from United Methodist across our conference.  Through contributions of canned foods, children’s clothing, shoes for all ages and sizes, sewing supplies, and monetary donations we support this ministry.

Nothing but Nets

Nothing but nets

A boy sleeps beneath a net

On Mother’s Day we take up a special offering that we give to this African project.  The purpose of this project is to purchase nets that mothers put over the cribs of their children while they sleep.  This keeps insects transmit diseases away from the infants.
