Upcoming Important Fund Raiser

Be sure to mark your calendar to attend the upcoming fund raiser for the victims of Hurricane Irene on Saturday, January 28, 2012, at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Oriental. Harbor Sounds and Jim Kellenberger are putting on this fund raiser to generate funds for the Pamlico County Disaster Recovery Coalition. It has been five months since Hurricane Irene struck eastern North Carolina and folks are now at the rebuilding stage. Although there are work teams working to assist in the rebuilding effort, many families simply do not have money to purchase the needed building supplies. This fund raiser will help provide funds for that purpose.

On January 28th, let’s fill the Catholic Church to capacity. Plan to attend, and pass the word along to your friends and neighbors. If we all pitch in, we can make a difference in the lives of people who need a little help. Everything for the fund raiser has been donated: food, beer, church, music, and advertising, so all monies donated go directly to the Disaster Recovery Fund.

Harbor Sounds has been in existence for twelve years. In that time they have raised over $250,000.00 for charities, funds, and causes – mostly in Pamlico County. The members do not keep any of the money. They pay for the upkeep on their musical instruments, buy their own music, use their own cars and gasoline to take them to these events. This has become their mission, and they love what they do. Watching people smile and have a good time is very satisfying.
